Laminate and luxury vinyl
Laminate and luxury vinyl planks and tiles are usually installed as a floating floor. Since the flooring clicks together, no attachment to the subfloor is needed. This flooring can be installed over existing flooring and cement slabs. Some brands are designed to be glued down.
Engineered wood
Engineered wood floors are usually constructed to float above the subfloor. This man-made flooring has a surface layer of hardwood and a base layer of plywood that tolerates moisture. Therefore, it can be installed in more areas of the home than solid wood.
Solid wood
Prefinished solid hardwood, which receives all finishing treatments in the factory, can be nailed to the subfloor in a day. Unfinished solid hardwood, on the other hand, is finished in the home. The finishing process and acclimation can take up to two weeks to complete.
Carpet
Carpet installation is completed by pulling the floor covering across the subfloor with a carpet stretcher. Proper placement guarantees that the carpet won?t bunch up in future years and end up with a shortened lifespan. Expect installers to hide seams well.
Ceramic and porcelain
Ceramic is made of coarse clay, while harder and denser porcelain is made of refined clay. The installation process usually takes two or three days. This includes tile cutting and drying time for the mortar that joins the tile and the adhesive that fastens it to the subfloor.
